Danville Signal's dspblok family of products combine an Analog Devices SHARC DSP with the supporting circuits necessary to implement a powerful DSP Function Module. Connections are brought out to standard 2mm dual row headers.

The dspblok™ gives you all the high performance, features, and peripheral support you want from the SHARC without the need for a full custom design. And its compact size makes it a perfect fit for your embedded application.

The dspblok™ also substantially reduces development costs, risk and time. By taking advantage of the pretested signal processing module, pc board layouts become simpler and projects are completed quickly and cost effectively.

dspblok™ zx2 DSP Core

The dspblok™ zx2 core is a highly integrated DSP module that incorporates an Analog Devices’ ADSP-21368 or ADSP-21369 SHARC DSP operating at 400 MHz, flash, EEProm AND SDRAM memory and a switching power supply to support the core voltage requirements. All the connections are brought out to standard 2mm dual row header footprints. The board is only 60mm x 60mm (2.36" x 2.36").

The dspblok zx2 is the foundation of our dspstak zx2 DSP Engine. You can use a dspstak zx2 with ICE as a development and programming platform for the dspblok zx2. Code can be uploaded via RS-232 to the dspblok's boot flash memory. JTAG emulator connections are also available.

dspblok™ zx DSP Core

The dspblok™ zx core is a highly integrated DSP module that incorporates an Analog Devices’ ADSP-21261 or ADSP-21262 SHARC DSP, an Altera Cyclone FPGA, flash, EEProm AND SDRAM memory and a switching power supply to support the core voltage requirements of the DSP & FPGA. All the connections are brought out to standard 2mm dual row header footprints. The board is only 60mm x 60mm (2.36" x 2.36").

The dspblok zx is the foundation of our dspstak zx DSP Engine. You can use a dspstak zx with ICE as a development and programming platform for the dspblok zx. Code for both the DSP and FPGA can be uploaded via USB or RS-232 to the dspblok's boot flash memory. JTAG emulator connections are also available for both devices.

The dspblok sx is the foundation of our dspstak sx with ICE DSP Engine. You can use a dspstak sx with ICE as a development and programming platform for the dspblok sx. Code for the DSP can be uploaded via USB or RS-232 to the dspblok's boot flash memory. JTAG connections are also available for both device the DSP and PLD.

All the connections are brought out to standard 2mm dual row header footprints. The board is only 60mm x 60mm (2.36" x 2.36").

The dspblok 21489 also includes a high speed USB transceiver. You can use the USB to upload DSP code via Danville's dspBootloader™.

The dspblok 21489 is a low cost version of our fourth generation SHARC based products. It is compatible with the dspblok 21469. It is also the driver of our dspstak 21489. The dspblok 21489 is also supported by a family of dspblok power supplies, data converter modules and digital I/O modules.

Development couldn't be easier. You can connect to an Analog Devices ICE using a Danville JTAG Adapter. Analog Devices has two development packages available: CrossCore Embedded Studio or Visual DSP++.

The dspblok™ 21489 + Ethernet is a highly integrated DSP module that incorporates an Analog Devices’ ADSP-21489 SHARC DSP operating at 400 MHz, flash, EEProm and a switching power supply to support the core voltage requirements. All the connections are brought out to standard 2mm dual row header footprints. The board is only 60mm x 60mm (2.36" x 2.36").

The dspblok 21489+Ethernet includes a Wiznet W5100 Ethernet transceiver operating at 100Mb/s. Each module has a unique MAC address preassigned. The transceiver manages the TCP/IP stack so that the DSP is largely unburdened. You just add magnetics and a connector. Since the magnetics are external, you can also create Power over Ethernet (POE) targets for smart sensor applications.

The dspblok 21489+Ethernet also includes a high speed USB transceiver. You can use the USB to upload DSP code via Danville's dspBootloader™.

The dspblok 21489+Ethernet is a specialized version of our fourth generation SHARC based products. It is a superset of the dspblok 21489.Development couldn't be easier. The dspblok™ 21469x2 is a highly integrated DSP module that incorporates two Analog Devices’ ADSP-21469 SHARC DSPs operating at 450 MHz, flash, EEProm and 1Gb DDR2 memory and a switching power supply to support the core voltage requirements. All the connections are brought out to standard 2mm dual row header footprints. The board is only 60mm x 60mm (2.36" x 2.36").

The dspblok 21469x2 is particularly useful for high channel count systems that rely on high performance two channel data converters. For example, the dspblok 21469x2 can support an 8 input, 32 output digital audio platform since it has 16 SPORTs and 40 DAI lines available. 

The two ADSP-21469 SHARC DSPs are interconnected via link ports. Link ports allow data to be quicky transferred between the two processors.

Development couldn't be easier. You can connect to an Analog Devices HP USB ICE via JTAG on any dspblok 21469.

Alternatively, the footprint compatible dspblok 21469x2 with ICE includes a built-in Analog Devices' EZ-KIT Lite debugger. You can use the debugger with either an EZ-Kit license (free) or a full VisualDSP++ license.

You can create small standalone embedded applications by combining a dspblok DSP function module with other dspblok modules. Embedded dspblok systems are created by using a dspblok power supply (such as our dspblok ps-usb), and an I/O module, such as one of our dspblok ad96k family of audio data converter boards. Each board is stacked via 2mm headers to create a low profile configuration where space is at a premium.

The dspblok 21469 is also available in an extended temperature (-ET) version. The operating temperature for this variation is -40 to +85 C, with a maximum core clock of 400MHz.

The dspblok 21469 is supported by a family of dspblok power supplies, data converter modules and digital I/O modules.
