The dspInstrument™ SV4 is a four-channel sound and vibration measurement system that includes an embedded computer (Raspberry RPi4) for processing. This allows the SV4 to function as either a standalone analyzer or alternatively, it can be a front end for larger distributed systems. Each input can be configured for either IEPE/CCP transducer support or operated in voltage mode. Individual gain settings of x1, x4, x16, and x64 accommodate a broad range a transducer sensitivities.
The sampling rate is programmable in very fine steps. Channel 1 can operate with a sample rate as high as 262144 which is convenient for FFT bins. Other common choices might be 204800 or 192000. Channels 2, 3 & 4 are decimated and operate at 1/4th the sample rate of Channel 1. This configuration is ideal where a microphone would use Channel 1 and a triaxial accelerometer would use Channels 2, 3 & 4. It is also possible to operate the dspInstrument SV4 with all four channels sampling at half the maximum sample rate (131072).
The dspInstrument SV4 is controlled by software running on the RPi4. Danville has supporting software that manages the operation of the front end electronics and streaming. Most customers will write their own applications.
As a standalone analyzer, you connect an external USB keyboard and a standard computer monitor. The power will likely be supplied from a 5V wall transformer. The SV4 is also an internet-of-things (IoT) device. It is optionally powered via a PoE+ ethernet connection. This allows data to be collected at many remote sites and processed at a central location.
