dspblok 21489 - Analog Devices ADSP-21489 SHARC DSP Module

*The dspblok 21489 is discontinued and has been replaced by the dspblok 21489-100 and dspblok 21565. It is still available as a special order item (minimum order 25)*

The dspblok™ 21489 is a highly integrated DSP module that incorporates an Analog Devices’ ADSP-21489 SHARC DSP operating at 400 MHz, flash, EEProm, and a switching power supply to support the core voltage requirements. All the connections are brought out to standard 2mm dual row header footprints. The board is only 60mm x 60mm (2.36" x 2.36").

The dspblok 21489 also includes a high-speed USB transceiver. You can use the USB to upload DSP code via Danville's dspBootloader™.

The dspblok 21489 is a low-cost version of our fourth generation SHARC based products. It is compatible with the dspblok 21469. It is a good choice when you need processing power, but don't need external memory.

The dspblok 21489 brings out the lower 8 bits of external data bus including all address lines with the exception of MS0#. Since the data bus is primarily used for I/O expansion, we elected to ignore the upper data lines (D15-D8) to maintain compatibility with the ADSP-21469.

Development couldn't be easier. You can connect to an Analog Devices ICE using a Danville JTAG Adapter. Analog Devices has two development packages available: CrossCore Embedded Studio or Visual DSP++. If you are starting a new project or designing your own target, you may want to use the dspblok Development Board. This board is convenient as a starting place to connect other development boards (data converters and I/O). It includes a power supply and computer connections to get you started.

dspblok 21489-ETH - Analog Devices ADSP-21489-Ethernet SHARC DSP Module

*As of 02/07/2022, the dspblok 21489-ETH DSP module has been discontinued. This module will be replaced by an updated dspblok 21489-100-ETH and dspblok 21565-ETH. Please contact us to discuss a substitute for this module*

The dspblok™ 21489 + Ethernet is a highly integrated DSP module that incorporates an Analog Devices’ ADSP-21489 SHARC DSP operating at 400 MHz, flash, EEProm, and a switching power supply to support the core voltage requirements. All the connections are brought out to standard 2mm dual row header footprints. The board is only 60mm x 60mm (2.36" x 2.36").

The dspblok 21489+Ethernet includes a Wiznet W5100 Ethernet transceiver operating at 100Mb/s. Each module has a unique MAC address preassigned. The transceiver manages the TCP/IP stack so that the DSP is largely unburdened. You just add magnetics and a connector. Since the magnetics are external, you can also create Power over Ethernet (POE) targets for smart sensor applications.

The dspblok 21489+Ethernet also includes a high-speed USB transceiver. You can use the USB to upload DSP code via Danville's dspBootloader™.

The dspblok 21489+Ethernet is a specialized version of our fourth generation SHARC based products. It is a superset of the dspblok 21489. Development couldn't be easier. You can connect to an Analog Devices ICE using a Danville JTAG Adapter. Analog Devices has two development packages available: CrossCore Embedded Studio or Visual DSP++. If you are starting a new project or designing your own target, you may want to use the dspblok Development Board. dspSoM 589 - Analog Devices ADSP-SC589 DSP Module

The dspSoM™ 589 is a highly integrated DSP module that incorporates an Analog Devices’ ADSP-SC589 Dual-Core SHARC+ DSP & ARM Cortex A5 operating at 500 MHz.  The dspSoM makes using the ADSP-SC589 easy by removing the hardware complexities of the supporting circuits that are needed in a complete design. The board includes a pair of 2Gb DDR3 SDRAM, QSPI Flash, Ethernet Phy, EEprom with MAC Address, IEEE-1588 support, and integrated power supplies.

The connectors are 0.8mm pitch with excellent signal integrity so that large mating PCBs can still be fabricated with relaxed designed rules. This makes the mating PCB much less expensive.

The dspSoM footprint brings out most ADSP-SC589 connections. There are also extra pins that are reserved for special custom versions of the dspSoM. For example, this could be the addition of an FPGA or a custom interface subsystem for specialized USB or Ethernet communications.

The dspSoM 589 is supported by the Danville dspSoM Development board. You will also need Analog Devices CrossCore Embedded Studio and an Analog Devices ICE-1000 or ICE-2000 emulator.
